Chinchilla Botanic Parklands

A $5.9 million project that spans 4.2 hectares, co-funded by Western Downs Regional Council and the Queensland Government. The town is known as Australia’s melon capital. It produces 25% of the country’s watermelons, rockmelons and honeydew, and hosts a biennial Chinchilla Melon Festival including a melon skiing event. Honouring the iconic pink and green fruit, a custom designed Water Play Area is a showpiece of the Parkland’s playscapes. “The watermelon theme resonates with Chinchilla; including it in this space is an appropriate way to celebrate this important symbol of cultural identity and enhance the native planting scheme used elsewhere,” says Parklands landscape architect Mandy Rounsefell, Director of Rounsefell Design. Garden For the Future

Custom promenade seating, 133 metres long, is installed in the Garden For the Future, an extension of the Bendigo Botanic Gardens designed by TCL with Paul Thompson for the City of Greater Bendigo. The garden opened in April 2019, with the long, curved seating installed in July. Its battens are made from 700 linear metres of Red Gum timber, reclaimed from trees removed for the Ravenswood interchange project on the Calder Freeway. The promenade bench is “a place to sit and relax,” says the City of Greater Bendigo, with seating in high demand around the garden. “We’ve found that a lack of public seating is detrimental to many people enjoying the Botanic Gardens and this is one of the most frequently requested features,” they say. “The seating will also provide …

Museum of the Goldfields

This gold-mining heritage museum in Kalgoorlie, a regional town in Western Australia, now features moveable street furniture in a glorious summery palette. Aria Seats, Cafe Round Tables and Stools, Forum Seats and Forum Low Tables are powder coated in tailored Sunshine Gloss and standard Sensation Orange, Lycra Strip and Bondi Blue. Some of the frames match the battens, some are finished in Textura Monument.
