Street Furniture Australia supports FORECAST
SFA offered Mall slim benches to the Festival HUB skilfully designed by Tract Consultants
Street Furniture Australia was invited to take part in Forecast: Festival of Landscape Architecture (16 – 18 October). The inaugural event, held at the State Library of Queensland, Brisbane, involved a program of participatory experiences and conversations designed to inspire and engage by re-imagining the way we meet and celebrate the profession, share our stories and learn through discourse and debate.
Forecast Festival HUB, conceptualised by Tract Consultants
Tract Consultants conceptualised the Forecast Festival HUB, a place for delegates to gather, eat, relax, celebrate and share conversations and observations about the festival. The installation of the HUB referenced the Brisbane River, both metaphorically and physically, and shaped the library concourse for the three days and nights of the festival. The design is a collection of origami-like pieces that represent the flow of thought, an agent of change and also endurance. SFA supplied six Mall slim benches to be incorporated into the design.

SFA also provided two Mall seats to furnish ‘Broadcast: The Interviews’, a space where speakers and participants were documented throughout the festival.
Additionally, we presented three awards at the 2014 AILA National Awards. SFA congratulates landscape architect firm Taylor Cullity Lethlean (TCL) as the major winners of the AILA National Awards.
Awards night
This pioneering event was a clear departure from the traditional conference format. Of the festival’s diversity, Forecast’s creative co-director Diana Snape says, “Forecast brings together architecture professionals, traffic engineers, city-planners from the public sector; it’s a broad range of people whose work crosses into landscape architecture. This format is essential because it celebrates the collaborative way in which landscape architects work.”
