Bupa Aged Care Facility, Clemton Park

Custom seats designed by Street Furniture Australia fix onto raised garden beds at the Bupa Aged Care Facility in Clemton Park. The facility offers 144 beds, with courtyards to allow green fingers of landscape to wrap around the wings on the eastern side, and on the west a courtyard creates a tranquil garden. Kris Grzybowski from Landscape Services delivered landscape architect Group GSA’s design. Michelle Herbut and the custom team at Street Furniture Australia designed the seat to be suitable for manufacture and end use. A comfortable upright profile and armrests assist with sitting and standing, meeting DDA requirements. Standard slats make for simple ongoing maintenance and replacement parts. The seats are also designed with ease of installation in mind, in case they need to be removed at a future date.

MIT Sydney

Davies Harrington Design has created a new courtyard space for the MIT campus on Sussex Street in Sydney. Michelle Davies, Designer, says student wellbeing was at the heart of the brief right from the beginning of the project. “The courtyard is central to this in that it acts as a space of rejuvenation between classes,” she says. “Lush plantings, vibrant colour and natural wood materials create a sense of calm. The Street Furniture Australia benches bring a splash of fun and an opportunity for students to mingle and enjoy all this space has to offer.” Eight plinth-mounted Mall Seats, with battens powder coated in Viper Green, are installed on a ledge that runs the length of the courtyard. Mall Mitred Slim Benches fit snugly around planter boxes in a U-shape. …

Aria Seats and Simple Bins have been optimised for long-term maintenance and to complement the shape of the space at 12 Moore Street, Canberra. The Aria two-seaters and curved configurations fit around planter corners with 90 degree connector modules, and in sheltered nooks. The round 80L Simple Bins match the seats, featuring Textura Monument frames and aluminium woodgrain Spotted Gum battens. These batten and frame materials are an ideal combination for easy cleaning and maintenance. The textured and anti-mar Textura powdercoat range is highly recommended for bins, as it is easy to wipe clean. Woodgrain aluminium provides a warm timber look – recommended for places with cold climates such as Canberra – without the need for regular oiling.
