Jordan Springs NSW, Australia (2017)

A community development in Western Sydney by Lendlease, Jordan Springs features 900 hectares of parklands and open space.

Street Furniture Australia was invited by Penrith City Council, Clouston Associates and Lendlease to furnish the local parks and streetscapes.

Melaleuca Park and Lake

Clouston Associates has designed the Melaleuca playground and lakeside open public spaces for the Jordan Springs Estate.

The playground is sited in the shade of a mature spotted gum forest, preserving the natural landscape character of the Cumberland Plain Woodland. Created with designer Ric McConaghy, it features sculptured play elements – an emu slide, cicada totems, tree houses, trampolines, swings, water play and climbing nets.

Arc Seats with tailored modwood battens and painted 2pac Black Orbit frames, Mall DDA Seats, Benches and Mall Settings with Slim Benches provide places to rest and reflect.

Jordan Springs Community Hub

Penrith City Council and Lendlease collaborated in the design of the Jordan Springs Community Hub. The building is a multifunctional space for group meetings and activities.

Mall Benches with Elliptical Arms feature eco-certified Jarrah hardwood battens and Palladium Silver frames.

Livvi’s Place Jordan Springs

Designed in consultation with local children, people with disabilities and their families and carers, local schools and academics, Livvi’s Place is an inclusive play space that enables children of all ages and abilities to play side-by-side using the same equipment.

The Jordan Springs playground is the first inclusive play space to be built by Lendlease.

Mall Tables with Slim Benches, and Mall DDA Seats, provide places for storytime, picnics and watching the kids play. They feature tailored modwood battens and painted 2pac Black Orbit frames.

Jubilee Playground

Jubilee Playground by Sue Barnsley Design has been awarded the Medal for Landscape Architecture at the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects NSW 2014 Awards. The playground, in Glebe’s Bicentennial Park, is a whimsical community space for children. Nicknamed ‘the lost world’ by its creators, the park meets the increasing demand for inner city families to access outdoor play spaces. “Throughout the design of Jubilee Playground we were conscious of reusing and renovating site furniture and play equipment.” Street Furniture Australia provided a number of colourful Classic Plaza Seats to the site, in keeping with the pre-existing seating nearby. Sue Barnsley says, “Throughout the design of Jubilee Playground we were conscious of reusing and renovating site furniture and play equipment. So we built on the existing pattern of Street Furniture Australia seats that edged Northcote …

Chinchilla Botanic Parklands

A $5.9 million project that spans 4.2 hectares, co-funded by Western Downs Regional Council and the Queensland Government. The town is known as Australia’s melon capital. It produces 25% of the country’s watermelons, rockmelons and honeydew, and hosts a biennial Chinchilla Melon Festival including a melon skiing event. Honouring the iconic pink and green fruit, a custom designed Water Play Area is a showpiece of the Parkland’s playscapes. “The watermelon theme resonates with Chinchilla; including it in this space is an appropriate way to celebrate this important symbol of cultural identity and enhance the native planting scheme used elsewhere,” says Parklands landscape architect Mandy Rounsefell, Director of Rounsefell Design. Rounsefell collaborated with Playscape Creations on custom play equipment including a giant watermelon bucket that fills and cascades over, and pop-jets …

Moore Street, Canberra

Aria Seats and Simple Bins have been optimised for long-term maintenance and to complement the shape of the space at 12 Moore Street, Canberra. The Aria two-seaters and curved configurations fit around planter corners with 90 degree connector modules, and in sheltered nooks. The round 80L Simple Bins match the seats, featuring Textura Monument frames and aluminium woodgrain Spotted Gum battens. These batten and frame materials are an ideal combination for easy cleaning and maintenance. The textured and anti-mar Textura powdercoat range is highly recommended for bins, as it is easy to wipe clean. Woodgrain aluminium provides a warm timber look – recommended for places with cold climates such as Canberra – without the need for regular oiling. The refurbishment of this ground floor entrance has “modernised and refreshed” the …
